LVP flooring installation
in Frisco, TX.
Frisco homeowners are replacing builder-grade carpet and dated tile with wide-plank LVP at a rapid pace. We install floating, glue-down, and nail-down systems — correctly, with proper acclimation and expansion gaps.
Why slab matters for flooring.
Almost every Frisco home is built on a post-tension concrete slab. This affects your flooring choices significantly. Glue-down LVP and engineered hardwood perform better on slabs than nail-down solid hardwood (which requires a subfloor system). Before we install anything, we check moisture levels with a calcium chloride test — Frisco slabs can have elevated moisture, especially in shaded north-facing rooms.
If moisture is above 3 lbs/1,000 sqft/24hr, we apply a moisture barrier before installation. This is non-negotiable — skipping this step is why LVP bubbles and warps within a year. We've been called in to re-do plenty of DIY and low-bid installs that skipped this step.
Which is right for your home.
LVP (Luxury Vinyl Plank): Best for households with kids, pets, or high traffic. Waterproof, durable, and the technology has improved dramatically — today's premium LVP (COREtec, Shaw Floorté, LifeProof) looks nearly identical to hardwood at 5 feet away. We install 6-12mm thick LVP with a 20-mil wear layer minimum. Anything less wears through in high-traffic Frisco homes within 5 years.
Engineered Hardwood: Real wood veneer over a plywood core. Better sound profile underfoot, higher resale appeal in luxury homes, can be refinished 1-2 times. Best for Frisco's higher-end neighborhoods (Phillips Creek Ranch, Starwood) where buyers expect real wood. Slightly more expensive and requires more careful moisture management.
Solid Hardwood on slab: Technically possible with a sleeper system, but we usually steer Frisco homeowners away from this — the cost and complexity rarely justify the result vs. engineered hardwood.
Frisco areas we floor regularly.
Stonebriar / West Frisco: High-end homes, mostly engineered hardwood requests, large square footages (3,000-5,000+ sqft).
Phillips Creek Ranch: Premium area, buyers expect real wood or high-end LVP. We see a lot of full first-floor conversions here.
The Trails at Frisco Hills: Mix of LVP for family areas, tile for wet zones.
Newman Village / Richwoods: Newer construction, often still has builder carpet that owners replace at the 3-5 year mark.
Frisco Lakes: 55+ community, lots of accessibility-focused installs (no transitions, smooth edges).
What flooring really costs in Frisco.
Complete installed cost (material + labor + demo of existing floor):
- Budget LVP (8mm, 12-mil wear layer): $4.50 – $6.50/sqft installed
- Mid-range LVP (10-12mm, 20-mil wear layer): $6.50 – $9/sqft installed
- Premium LVP (COREtec, Shaw Floorté Pro): $9 – $13/sqft installed
- Engineered hardwood (glue-down, 3/4" ply core): $12 – $18/sqft installed
- Subfloor repair / leveling: $3 – $8/sqft (quoted separately after assessment)
We never quote LVP jobs over the phone without seeing the subfloor. What's under the carpet matters as much as what goes on top of it.

Frequently asked.
A 1,500 sqft install (after demo and subfloor prep) takes 2-3 days. Larger homes (3,000+ sqft) typically run 4-6 days. Add 1-2 days if subfloor leveling is needed.
Yes — we need clear floors. We can move furniture within the home for a small fee, or you can arrange to move it before we arrive. Appliances (fridge, stove) we handle as part of the job.
12mm minimum, with a 20-mil wear layer. Thicker vinyl absorbs impact noise better and is more resistant to dog nail scratching. We typically recommend COREtec Plus Enhanced or Shaw Floorté Pro for pet households.
Sometimes, if the tile is fully adhered, flat, and doesn't raise the floor height beyond transition limits. We check during the estimate. Over loose or cracked tile, we always demo first.
